The ALLGAL products are manufactured from
hot rolled steel strip that’s electrogalvanized on both
sides in the OrrconTM state of the art electrogalvanizing
plant. This process applies an even, continuous coating of
zinc to steel. The strip is then formed into tube and welded
along the seam.
The weld area is re-coated with a zinc/aluminium
alloy to replace the material that the welding has burnt away.
The external surface of the tube is coated with a special
clear polymer coating called Clear-Tec. It is the combined
action of the electrogalvanized and polymer coatings that
gives the product a duplex coating, and unlike traditional
prime painted tubulars, the ALLGAL system, also offers a protective
electrogalvanized coating on the inside. ALLGAL is manufactured
and tested to meet the requirements of Australian Standard
AS1163-1991 Structural Steel Hollow Sections C350L0 (dual
grade) and AS 4750 (INT) -- 2000 Electrogalvanized (zinc)
coatings on ferrous hollow sections.
ALLGAL has a total minimum zinc coating weight
(total amount distributed over both surfaces) of 100g/m2.
A top coat of Clear-Tec is then externally applied.
This document is chiefly concerned with the
features of the ALLGAL product range.
Why use ALLGAL
The ALLGAL coating combines the best qualities of the electrogalvanising
and painting systems. This has several effects on the product’s
performance.
